Michigan Fashion Week is proud to welcome many types of talented emerging fashion brands to our shows — i.e. Womenswear, Menswear, and Couture. Jewelry and accessory designers are also extremely encouraged to showcase a line as well. Established retail brands may present their collections at our shows as MFW is open to consumers as well as the fashion industry.

                  Many talented artists create very impressive designs, but they don't get out to the world because they don't have professionals to handle their brands and exposure. This is where Michigan Fashion Week comes in. We will do our best to make sure that your designs will not just sit there gathering dust in your workshop, but your brand and your work will be brought to the eyes of the entire world.

                    We truly believe that exposure to the media and to the people that are interested in fashion is one of the key parts of establishing a successful brand. As a designer, you probably already know that even though you have created very interesting pieces, you also need a good marketing plan that will bring actual clients to you. Well, this is one of the numerous things that Michigan Fashion Week can do for you. We handle marketing campaigns with professionalism and make sure that your products get exposed to a huge number of potential clients.

We do welcome already established designers, or talented designers that are just "peeking" into the world of fashion. However, depending on where you are right now on the road to success, different approaches must be used to create a successful marketing and exposure campaign. Michigan Fashion Week will make sure that your brand and your work will be handled in the most appropriate way, so that you will get the exposure and success that you seek.

                 Requirements for Designer Participation in MFW

​

• The designer must have been in business at least 2 years or have an equivalent of 2 years of proven design experience, and must have website.

• Types of collections accepted are women’s day and evening wear, men’s wear, jewelry and accessories. 

• The designer must be able to produce a minimum of 25-30 looks for presentation during MFW Showcase, and provide all shoes and accessories for the fashion show. Jewelry and accessories designers must produce a minimum of 15-20 pieces per collection.

• The designer must have original never before seen pieces presented at MFW Showcase. If piece have been publicly shown previously, it must be approved by board. 

• The designer must be prepared to submit complete look books or press kits for on-site media distribution. 

• Photos of your most recent collections and designer biographies must be submitted by email or complete designer application for evaluation for a timely response.  

• Deposit of the designer fee by May 15th.
