Future of Fashion Camp is a one-week immersive summer experience designed to introduce students to the exciting world of fashion through creativity, skill-building, and confidence development. Led by industry professionals and presented by Michigan Fashion Week, campers will explore fashion design, sewing, styling, branding, and self-expression in a supportive and inspiring environment Each week is tailored by age group to ensure instruction is engaging, age-appropriate, and impactful.

Discovery Lab (Ages 8–12)

Future of Fashion: Discovery Lab is a one-week fashion day camp designed especially for young creatives. With guidance from caring, experienced instructors and engaging hands-on projects, campers will explore the world of fashion through creativity and self-expression. Students will learn how to bring their ideas to life by creating mood boards, sketching designs, exploring fabrics, and learning basic sewing skills. The week concludes with a mini portfolio, a fun professional photo moment, and a celebratory showcase of each camper’s unique designs.

Makers Camp (Ages 12–18)

Future of Fashion: Makers Lab is an intensive, hands-on fashion camp designed for teens who are ready to take their creativity to the next level. In this maker-focused experience, students will move beyond concepts and actively design and construct a finished garment from start to finish. Guided by industry professionals, participants will develop design concepts, learn pattern and sewing techniques, work with fabrics, and refine their pieces through fitting and finishing. The camp concludes with a professional runway-style showcase, photoshoot, and a portfolio-ready garment each student can proudly take home.

Focus: Develop creative confidence and independence as makers
Outcome: Complete one finished, wearable garment from concept to construction.

  • Yes! Future of Fashion Camp is designed to welcome beginners and students with limited experience. Our instructors provide step-by-step guidance in a supportive, encouraging environment, ensuring each participant learns at their own pace.

    Both the Discovery Lab (ages 8–12) and Makers Lab (ages 12–18) focus on building foundational skills, confidence, and creative understanding—no prior sewing or design experience is required. Students are introduced to tools, techniques, and concepts in an age-appropriate way, making this camp an excellent starting point for those exploring fashion, art, or design for the first time.

  • Please plan to arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before the scheduled session start time. This helps ensure a smooth check-in process and allows our staff time to properly prepare the space for the day’s activities.

  • To ensure a focused, safe, and structured learning environment for all participants, parents, friends, and family members are not permitted to remain in the classroom during camp sessions.

    You are welcome to wait in your vehicle or take advantage of nearby amenities. Downtown is just a short 5-minute drive away and offers several dining, shopping, and coffee options during camp hours.

  • No. Lunch is not provided. All campers are required to bring their own lunch each day, along with a water bottle. Please plan accordingly to ensure your child is comfortable and prepared for the day.
