Michigan Fashion Week Founder Loren Hicks Takes Michigan Talent to New York Fashion Week

Michigan fashion is heading to one of the industry’s biggest stages.

Michigan Fashion Week Founder Loren Hicks is taking seven Michigan-based fashion designers, along with 30 Michigan-based runway models, to New York City to showcase the creativity, talent, and growing fashion community coming out of the state during New York Fashion Week.

The opportunity marks an exciting milestone for Michigan Fashion Week and its continued mission to create meaningful opportunities for designers, models, and fashion professionals beyond the runway.

For Hicks, taking Michigan talent to New York is about much more than producing another fashion show. It is about creating access to an industry and a week filled with opportunities that can potentially move a designer or model’s career forward.

“Our Michigan designers are excited to showcase their collections on the national stage during New York Fashion Week and have the opportunity to get their brands in front of buyers, media, industry professionals, and new audiences,” says Hicks. “But this is bigger than a fashion showcase. New York Fashion Week is one of the best networking weeks in the industry. The connections, conversations, and opportunities that can happen throughout the week are just as important as what happens on the runway.”

The Michigan Fashion Week delegation will bring together seven designers and 30 runway models, giving Michigan creatives an opportunity to experience the energy of New York Fashion Week while expanding their networks outside of their home market.

For the participating designers, the New York showcase provides an opportunity to introduce their brands and collections to a new audience. For the models, it is an opportunity to add New York Fashion Week experience to their portfolios while connecting with photographers, designers, creatives, and other fashion professionals from across the country.

Hicks hopes the experience also sends a larger message about the talent being developed in Michigan.

Michigan fashion deserves to be seen, and this September, Michigan is taking its talent directly to New York.
